A new anti-predator fence will be erected on the site. In 2022 we counted here near Gródek in Podlasie, on an area of 26 hectares, more than a dozen nests of redshanks and lapwings. We have also observed large flocks of ruffs here during migration.
Next to it is our favorite protected area with waders, where 120 pairs of these birds nested. We have a plan for the birds to also occupy the new area.
Many thanks to the volunteers who bravely help us dismantle more than 2 km of wooden fencing. It is now more than 5 years old and, unfortunately, does not guarantee protection against the escape of Polish Konik ponies.
By the end of February, we need to build a new fence with electrified cables to prevent foxes and other mammals of prey from entering the area. Much of the work is done by our own efforts.
