Volunteering work with horses - Podlasie
We are looking for volunteers to work with and around horses.
Place — Podlasie.
The station for PTOP volunteers is located in the village of Kalitnik.
It is a small village near Michałowo — 5 houses inhabited periodically.
We have a house, stables, and 80 hectares of meadows where we keep a herd of Polish horses and periodically Polish red cows.
Volunteers will work in Kalitnik and on meadows near Gródek and occasionally on the Narew River, near the village of Trześcianka. We are currently working with several people and are looking for more volunteers for a long-term relationship.
Work consists in checking that they are in good condition, moving them between quarters, taking them for walks, if someone has such skills they can take them for a walk under saddle.
Other jobs that we rely on volunteers to help with are related to the operation of the farm, for example: inspecting and assisting with fence repairs.
We are looking for several dozen people who would be willing to come to Kalitnik between now and March 31, 2024 (if possible), e.g. for one weekend a month or for a few days a week (it is to be agreed upon) and help us with all the grazing work.
We are also looking for local people who could help us in looking after the animals left on the meadows without permanent supervision (near Narwia and Gródek) — it would be great if we could find someone like that.
We provide accommodation during the stay. The group of volunteers is supervised by a PTOP employee. We also have two employees who do all the heavy work that requires operating the equipment — so volunteers will not be hired for heavy physical work.
In 2022 we will conduct training for volunteers in working with horses according to natural methods — how to deal with them to do what we want and how to understand their language. Such training is for people who sign a volunteer agreement with us and actually work with us. We also have small gifts for volunteers: fleece coats, water bottles with filters, and caps.
